ordinary magic

For our first page i wanted to so something simple colorful and fun.

For this page i chose to use paint in an analogous color scheme. i also used old book pages to add more texture.

I picked a shape and painted it using my color scheme. I picked hearts because its kinda my thing ever since i was little. I only painted it on one side because i wanted to leave space for my journaling.

After i let the paint dry i cut out various sizes of hearts out of the book pages (you could use newspaper if you would like)

After i glued the hearts down i outlined them with paint markers and fine tiped pens. I thought the plain painted hearts were to well plain i am one of those people who believe "more means more"

The prompt i chose to do was ordinary magic. 

What in your daily life or routine do you find special. it can be little moments or special things that make your day.

I chose little things that have made my summer special.

And Now A Word...

I wanted to introduce myself a little. I am part one of a two part duo. I am an art student and was very drawn to art journaling. I took an online class on art journaling and was instantly hooked. After the class was over i wanted to continue doing art journaling pages, the only problem for me was i wasnt drawn to the typical art journaling pages that they had out there. I started talking to my twin sister (shes the other part of our duo) and we thought it would be fun to have an art journaling blog that you didnt have to register for or have to pay for. The pages we are going to be doing on this blog are pages we are doing in our own personal art journals. We are not professionals in anything we do. like i said before we are students and learning to be professionals in our field. hopefully you will find this blog inspiring and would want to do the pages. we would really like to see your work in the flickr group. i look forward to getting to know you and hopefully you will get to know us too.

My name is Erica (1 of 2) actually since i was born 2nd i guess i am two. i like pink. i think i need to tell you that because it really is a part of me. i am not one of those crazy people who only wear pink but i do consider it to be my favorite color. i have a blog called girlwithpinkboots.blogspot.com. its kinda a rant blog about my current obsessions & shopping habits.

my name is jes i'm number 1! but not in the I'M NUMBER 1!!!! way just i was born first so that make me number 1. my favorite color is black. (thought technically black is not a color oh well i like it!) unlike my sister i am one of those people that wear black alot. i have a blog called from the land of whimsy its just a blog about fashion, art, crafts,and i'm planning on doing some diy's soon.

sorry i haven't done any art journals.....

i will work on one technique tomorrow. i'm thinking masking tape and paint? i'm very sorry i have to make this a priority. we still need to work out the kinks. but un till then i'm sorry.
